Long Day

Well it turned out to be a long day. Starting with helicoptors flying over head in the early monrning. Then the painteres showed up early and I had to put on my carpenter hat and do some exterior wood replacement while they had the ladders up.

I’m no longer fond of being on ladders, and it seems the pieces that need to be replaced are always in the highest or inaccessible places.

I was glad to be coming down off this ladder! But not until I went up and looked at the upper roof - just to check on the chimney and the condition of things. But also for the view.

Did a bit more work on the deck. The redesign and cantilever of the outer part, along with the removal of the fence around, which was to hide the hot tub, makes a huge difference. Not quite finished yet.

This is what it looked like before with the high fence and stilts holding it up:

Here it is when we moved in with the hot tub:

Finally, this evening I hosted a roundtable discussion on preservation and conservation issues at the Barrington Historical Society, with Barbara Geiger, Lee Bey and Roger Keys. Great converstation, lots of audience participation, it turned out very well and the hour passed like 5 minutes. Do I look tired?
