Yes, I know. This is a bit of an advertisement and not really a "newsletter". But then, It's my web site! But actually, three of these projects were in architecturally significant buildings and the third in an early 20th century bungalow. One was the final stage in an ongoing experiment in my own landmark home. All are in Oak Park, Illinois.
The basis of my work, in all four projects, was to help retain as much architectural integrity and historic fabric as possible, while creating modern functioning kitchens, incorporating modern design ideas to compliment the old.
Follow the link above for a slide show of some of the details.
Two of the projects were featured as an "in-progress" web log in Newsletter 19 for those of you who like "blogs". Those projects are now complete (awaiting a few minor details and some light fixtures to come in).
I am available anywhere in the Chicago area this winter to do kitchen design work, help you through the process of choosing contractors, and working with you through the completion of your new kitchen. I can be contacted at this email address: MHackl@re-building.com

Another issue. Here is an update on the last Newsletter (#22), regarding the River Forest Women's Club. Citizens have begun to question the Park District's impending acquisition of the building, and there is some movement underway to try to stop it getting into their hands. See newsletter 22 for some video footage of the building. Here is a letter written to the Nov. 10 Wednesday Journal, a local paper, by Laurel McMahon, President of the Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest.
